Sewlebrity Sew A Long, Mini Dresden Coin Purse

I was asked to join in on the Sewlebrity Sew A Long this month for the book Just For You: Selfish Sewing Projects from Your Favorite Sew Can She Bloggers: 24 Simply Stylish Projects written by Sarah Markos and Caroline Fairbanks-Critchfield. When Sarah asked if I would sew up a zipper pouch, I of course said yes, because I LOVE sewing up little bags and will never pass up the chance to try a new one.

This cute Mini Dresden Pouch was designed by Amy Friend of During Quiet Time. Its the perfect size for holding essentials, I love that I can put my pens and pencils in he bag for when I need to do some on the go sketching.

This bag was also the perfect chance to use some of my new Strawberry Festival Fabric that is just now making it to stores.

I did change up one thing in the pattern....the dresden.... I really wanted the black top stitching so I decided instead of sewing together the dresden pieces I would applique them onto the bag. I had to cut 1/4" off the sides of the fan pieces to get them to fit.

Since most of the stitching was straight lines, I kept the feed dogs up, instead of doing free motion. It went together super quick.

If you want to make one, you can find the book here or you've got a chance to win one here. Leave me a comment in this blog post and I will choose a winner next Wednesday the 16th.

Good luck!
